35 Weeks and 3 days

WOW!!!! I'm HUGE! I think that I officially look like I'm carrying twins. It's amazing how much bigger I've gotten in the last 2 weeks. These babies are growing like crazy! We have our final ultrasound and growth scan on Monday to see just how big they've gotten. My guess is almost 6lbs a piece. It seems like they're really running out of room now...kicking under my ribs and pressing hard on my pelvis. But, the countdown has begun...18 days until we are holding our miracles in our arms!!! It can't come soon enough for Mommy, I'm getting SO uncomfortable.

Happy 5th Birthday, Vegas!

We celebrated Vegas's 5th birthday last Tuesday with her best friend Xena. Kyle made them a delicious doggy cake topped with a yogurt icing and decorated with ketchup! Yummy :) We wanted to make her birthday special since it will be her last as an "only child."

Xena brought Vegas a present...her favorite bones!

Wasting no time.

Tug of war with the new bones. They're not very good at sharing.

34 Weeks, Getting Bigger, & Halloween Costumes Revealed!

Only 4 weeks & 2 days until Oliver and Lucy are in our arms! We can't believe it!! I'm getting a little swollen...finally had to take off my rings. Sad, but I guess it was inevitable.
And aren't these the most ADORABLE Halloween costumes ever!!!??? We went to the mall today to buy a couple nursing bras. Well, Build A Bear just happens to be on the way to Motherhood Maternity...there in the window were 2 bears dressed up, one in a Mizzou football uniform and another in a Mizzou cheerleading uniform! Needless to say, we couldn't resist! The babies will only be 16 days old on Halloween so their costumes will need to be pretty small. These should fit nicely, don't you think :)

33 Weeks

I went to work last Wednesday and just didn't feel right. I was having frequent braxton hicks contractions, felt lightheaded and was very short of breath. I left a couple hours later and tried drinking lots of water & laying on my left side. I was still having frequent contractions that were moderately uncomfortable, taking my breath away, so I decided to call my OB. I went to the hospital, and I was actually having contractions every 2-4 minutes! Yikes! That was scary to see. I ended up being admitted overnight for monitoring and terbutaline, a medication that stops contractions. Let me tell you, I HATE terbutaline! It is an awful drug...my heart raced into the 130s and I was very shakey with each dose. I received a total of 5 doses...3 shots and 2 pills. Despite all the contractions, my cervix remained firm and closed. Go cervix! Things settled down Thursday morning and I was discharged at 11:30 am.

I had an OB appt Friday to follow up and was pleasantly surprised by my doctor's outlook on the hospital admission. She isn't really concerned about the frequent contractions (I'm still having them, sometimes very frequently). She said she doesn't really care how many I'm having because they aren't causing any cervical changes. My uterus is now as large as a full term pregnancy, so it's going to contract. I'm just supposed to watch for an increase in intensity or pain. So far, so good.

32 Week Ultrasound

On August 31st, we had another ultrasound. The babies are getting SO BIG! We are so proud of them already. Lucy actually surpassed her brother...weighing in at 4lbs 9 oz! Oliver was estimated at 4lbs 7oz. I know I've said this a million times, but it is just so surreal that I am carrying these babies. That's 9lbs of baby!!! How crazy is that?

Unfortunately, both babies were being shy...so no pictures. But it was very interesting to see that both Oliver and Lucy flipped. Yep, Lucy is now head down and Oliver is still transverse but his head is now on my left instead of my right. Well, actually that was 2 weeks ago, so who knows what position they're in now :) We have our last ultrasound scheduled for September 28th, at almost 36 weeks. I can't imagine how big they'll be then! My OB is predicting 6-7lb babies if I can make it to my scheduled C-Section, which is on October 14th, at 38 weeks.

More Baby Showers

On my birthday, August 9th, our good friends Alicia & Kelly threw us a couples baby shower! It was really great to spend time with all of our friends celebrating our twins. We managed to stay pretty cool despite the 95 degree weather & received many wonderful gifts.

On August 18th, my wonderful work friends, Maggie, Kelly & Kristy, hosted yet another baby shower! I feel very fortunate to have so many great friends! Kelly made & decorated an awesome cake for Oliver & Lucy. Kristy, Maggie, & little Savannah made the decorations perfect. I haven't been able to work on the floor as a nurse almost my entire pregnancy so it was really nice to see everyone at my shower. I miss you all!!!
